Virtues In Practice (VIP) After School Girls Mentoring Project
- VIP is a mentoring program for middle and high school girls.
- VIP girls receive “wrap around” services that will empower them to avoid at-risk behaviors, to stay in school, and to pursue a post high school degree or training.
- VIP girls meet twice per month in small age-appropriate groups with project facilitators and mentors.
- VIP Sessions include lessons on life and study skills, relationships, STD, obesity, entrepreneurship training, educational and cultural field trips, fund raising and community service.
- VIP mentors must undergo a background check, must attend the Darkness To Light Training and must attend monthly mentor trainings. The mentors contact the girls weekly.
- VIP Project Coordinator, Elisa Frances, has a B.A. in education. She has taught in the public schools for 8 years where she was elected Teacher of the Year in 2001. She served as a coach for high school youths.
